Chaplains - Why Shool
Chaplains
- School is one of those funnels that nearly everyone
goes through. It is therefore one of the only places apart from
mass media where you can reach a whole lot of people at once.
- Add to that the fact that 80% of people who
make a decision for Christ do so between the ages of 8-15. It is
no wonder that many missiologists are now suggesting we need to think
smaller and aim lower. That is aim at a target audience more
receptive.
- Chaplains are Christ incarnate in the school offering
pastoral care and proactive programs to
school students, staff and their families. They
co-ordinate high school RE and pray for their school communities.
- Chaplains are the gate into the school. If
schools are the ripe harvest I have described then there is no way that
chaplains can do all the work. The are an almost endless
opportunities for Christians to live out the great commission through
breakfast clubs, AUSLIFE volunteer, door of hope, RE and many other
opportunities just waiting to be explored. Why not consider how
you might support your school chaplains today.
